Get ready! Attention! Fire!
Trnava TREBUCHET as an AR application
If you are from Trnava or a local, you should know that the city offers many cultural opportunities, monuments and tourist attractions. One of the newest magnets is an eight-metre long, five-metre wide and five-metre high trebuchet.
It is a catapult, which was used to conquer cities in the past. Trnava has a well-preserved fortification structure and the trebuchet is a reminder that Little Rome was never conquered by force. The historical installation is located on Hlboka Street and is to be part of a sightseeing circuit around the walls. The local agency Hector and the civic association Berezum from Brezno worked on the production.
The effort to make the city walls more visible is under the thumb of the Trnava Region, headed by Alexander Prostinák, who teamed up with Nefkus and added another dimension to the attraction. The main task of the developers at Nefkus was to create an app that can be tested by the general public. This is a mini-game TREBUCHET thanks to which you can shoot a straw stack from the cannon and become a conqueror for a little while. Realistic calculations are applied in the game to make the hitting as authentic as possible. The app pulls into the place where the catapult is actually located, which also contributes to the development of tourism and adds a new dimension to the attraction. A QR code is used, which the player reads on the spot and can prepare for the shot, with three attempts available. Although the game is currently developed as a filter for social networks, it is possible to stream it and create a set of quests that the player can play while exploring around the castle walls, for example.
Thanks to the extent of the preservation of the city fortifications, the walls certainly deserve visibility and we consider the combination of the historical design of the attraction with modern technology to be more than beneficial.
